WhatsApp messaging limits

Every WhatsApp Business Account has a messaging limit set by Meta. It caps how many unique customers you can start conversations with, using approved template messages, in a rolling 24-hour period.

This limit governs how many people your broadcasts, automations, and notifications can reach.

:::warning Voixt cannot raise your limit Messaging limits and quality ratings are controlled entirely by Meta. Voixt helps you manage and send messages, and shows you your current tier — but it cannot manually upgrade you. :::

What counts against the limit

The limit counts unique customers you start a conversation with, not total messages.

If your limit is 1,000, you can open conversations with up to 1,000 different customers in 24 hours. Conversations the customer started, and replies inside an open 24-hour service window, are not what this limit constrains.

Messaging tiers

TierUnique customers per 24 hours
Tier 11,000
Tier 210,000
Tier 3100,000
Tier 4Unlimited

New accounts start at Tier 1.

How limits increase

Meta raises your tier automatically when your account shows healthy sending behaviour. There is no button to request an upgrade.

To qualify, your account generally needs to:

  • Maintain a medium or high quality rating.
  • Send messages consistently over time.
  • Use approved template messages.
  • Follow Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
  • Avoid spam-like sending patterns.
  • Receive healthy engagement — replies, not blocks.

Quality rating

Your quality rating reflects how customers react to your messages. Meta derives it from blocks, reports, and engagement signals.

RatingMeaningImpact
HighCustomers respond well.Best chance of moving to a higher tier.
MediumNormal performance.May still qualify for an upgrade if other conditions are met.
LowCustomers are reacting negatively.Your limit will not increase, and the account may be restricted.

Maintaining a good quality rating

This is the lever you actually control.

  • Message only customers who opted in.
  • Make every message useful and expected.
  • Do not over-send promotional content.
  • Never repeat the same message to someone who has not engaged.
  • Use clear language and correct grammar.
  • Reply to customer queries quickly.
  • Keep your contact list clean — remove invalid and dead numbers.
  • Segment your audience before every broadcast.
tip

Blocks are the fastest way to lose a tier. One irrelevant blast to your whole list can undo months of good sending.

What happens when you hit the limit

You cannot start new conversations with additional customers until the rolling window refreshes. Sending resumes automatically as allowance frees up.

Existing conversations continue normally — the limit only gates new conversations.

If a broadcast targets more customers than you have allowance for, the surplus does not send. Plan around this: filter your audience, or split large campaigns across several days.

Check your limit in Voixt

  1. Log in to the Voixt Dashboard.
  2. Go to WhatsApp → Insights.
  3. Your current tier, quality rating, and remaining daily allowance are shown there.

Common reasons limits do not increase

  • Quality rating sits at Low.
  • Sending is sporadic — long gaps between campaigns.
  • Messages go to customers who never opted in.
  • High block or report rate.
  • Repeated template rejections.
  • Policy violations on the WhatsApp Business Account.
  • The Meta Business Account is not verified.

Best practices before a large send

  • Check your remaining allowance in WhatsApp → Insights first.
  • Filter the audience down to people who will care.
  • Send to your most engaged segment first; strong early engagement helps your rating.
  • Stagger very large campaigns across multiple days.
  • Watch the quality rating for 24 hours after a big send.

FAQ

Can Voixt increase my messaging limit? No. Meta controls tiers. Voixt shows you the current tier and helps you sustain the behaviour that earns an upgrade.

How fast can I move from Tier 1 to Tier 2? It depends on sending volume, consistency, and quality rating. Meta evaluates continuously; there is no fixed timeline.

Does a reply from a customer count against my limit? No. The limit counts conversations you initiate with a template.

My rating dropped to Low. What now? Stop broadcasting immediately. Review who you have been messaging and why. Send only to opted-in, engaged customers until the rating recovers.

Does a rejected template affect my limit? Not directly, but a pattern of rejections signals poor account health to Meta.
